4G Camera Data Usage Calculator
A 4G camera records to its memory card, so recording itself costs no data; data only crosses the SIM when an alert is pushed, when you watch live or when you play back remotely. This tool turns that into GB per month so you can pick the SIM plan — and advise customers against plans that are far too big or too small.
Defaults are reference assumptions, not the specification of a particular model. Drag the sliders or type values to match your situation.

Where the data goes
Live viewing dominates. Advising the customer to watch less, or to pick the "smooth" live quality, shrinks the SIM plan they need.
Recording to the memory card uses no data. Estimate from editable assumptions.
How it works
- 1Each alert clip = bitrate × seconds. Defaults are 1.5 Mbps for 1080p and 2.5 Mbps for 2K at the frame rates battery cameras normally use; adjust to your quality setting.
- 2Only the share of clips that is actually uploaded (phone previews or cloud push) costs data — enter that percentage.
- 3Live viewing = bitrate × minutes per day. This is usually the biggest item — a customer watching 10 minutes a day uses more than 30 alerts do.
- 4Add keep-alive traffic (default 30 MB/month) and multiply by 30 days. The suggested plan is the next common plan size with 25% headroom.
