Solar Security Cameras: Real Specs, Wholesale Prices and Import Terms for Distributors
TL;DR
Standard configurations, import terms and wholesale prices quoted per order for solar 4G cameras: 1080p–2K, 8000–20000mAh, IP66, 150 SKUs, MOQ 10. Written for importers and buyers.
What a solar camera is, and which configuration to buy at wholesale
A solar security camera is an outdoor camera that takes its power from an integrated photovoltaic panel, stores it in a rechargeable battery inside the housing, and sends video over a 4G LTE SIM — no mains run, no WiFi dependency. That is what makes it deployable on farms, construction sites, warehouse yards, car parks and roads that infrastructure has not reached yet. On the SolaGuard range, built by Shenzhen Leksell, the standard configuration is 1080p–2K resolution, an 8000mAh–20000mAh battery, an 8W or 15W panel, microSD storage up to 128GB, an IP66 housing, and 5–10 minutes of installation time per camera. The catalogue currently runs to 150 SKUs, 49 of them AOV (continuous-recording) models, with wholesale prices quoted per order. This is written for importers, wholesale distributors and procurement teams — it is not an end-user guide.
Read the spec sheet like a buyer, not like a brochure
Most of the risk in importing this category is not in the price. It is in the gap between the figures on the catalogue and the figures on the commercial invoice. Below is the standard configuration — meaning stock, not a build-to-order project:
| Item | Standard configuration | What to pin down on the order |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 1080p–2K | 4K is custom/OEM only, never off the shelf |
| Battery | 8000mAh–20000mAh | State the capacity per model on the PI, not "high capacity" |
| Solar panel | 8W or 15W | Models with the larger battery normally ship with the 15W panel |
| Storage | microSD up to 128GB | Larger cards fall outside the compatibility commitment |
| Weatherproofing | IP66 | This is the rating across the whole outdoor range |
| Connectivity | 4G LTE over SIM | No WiFi, no on-site recorder |
| Installation | 5–10 minutes per camera | No power cabling, no network cabling |
A simple piece of due diligence: ask the supplier for a spec sheet broken down by part number, then hold it against the figures they themselves wrote into the proforma invoice. If the two disagree on battery capacity or panel wattage, the problem will surface on your second shipment rather than on the sample order.
Battery and panel have to be read as a pair
Battery capacity on its own tells you nothing. A 20000mAh camera paired with an undersized panel can still run flat after a stretch of overcast days, while a balanced pairing with a 15W panel recovers on its own. So when you compare quotes across factories, compare the combination of battery, panel and recording mode — not isolated numbers. Real-world runtime depends on latitude, season, mounting orientation and how much movement the site actually sees. The only figure worth trusting is the one you measure yourself, on a sample batch, in the market you sell into.
Storage and resolution
The entire standard range records to a microSD card of up to 128GB, alongside live viewing over 4G. Where a customer needs longer retention, the honest answer is an overwrite policy and a scheduled export routine — not a promised card size the firmware has never been validated against. The same discipline applies to resolution: 1080p–2K is enough to identify people, vehicles and livestock at normal mounting distances. If the end customer genuinely needs more, that is an OEM order, not a stock item.
AOV vs PIR: the difference that decides your miss rate
AOV — Always-On Video — is a generic industry term, not any one factory's trademark. An AOV camera records continuously, 24/7, at low standby draw, because AI scene analysis carries the load instead of the camera waking up only when a PIR sensor registers a change in heat.
That distinction matters a great deal when you are selling into farms, warehouse yards and construction sites:
- PIR cameras miss slow movement — someone walking the fence line, livestock drifting across a field.
- PIR cameras miss events outside the sensor's coverage, because the PIR field is narrower than the lens.
- PIR cameras clip the first few seconds off every recording while the unit wakes and starts writing — precisely the seconds that carry evidential value.
The trade-off is power: AOV draws more, so it almost always ships with battery and panel at the top of the range. That is why the 49 AOV models sit at the top of the range rather than in the entry-level bracket.
Six 2K AOV models to quote first
If you want a tight line-up to put in front of your first B2B accounts, the 2K dual-lens group below is a sensible starting point — one platform, one set of accessories, differing on features and price:
| Part number | Resolution | Battery | Panel | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SG-D42G-15F66-V6 | 2K (2.0MP×2 dual lens) | 20000mAh | 15W | IP66 |
| SG-D42G-15F66-V1 | 2K (2.0MP×2 dual lens) | 20000mAh | 15W | IP66 |
| SG-D42G-15F66-V2 | 2K (2.0MP×2 dual lens) | 20000mAh | 15W | IP66 |
| SG-D42G-15F66-V5 | 2K (2.0MP×2 dual lens) | 20000mAh | 15W | IP66 |
| SG-D42G-15F66-V3 | 2K (2.0MP×2 dual lens) | 20000mAh | 15W | IP66 |
| SG-D42G-15F66-V4 | 2K (2.0MP×2 dual lens) | 20000mAh | 15W | IP66 |
Shared accessories and a shared installation procedure across the variants mean your field team is trained once rather than six times. All 150 part numbers, with per-model specifications, are in the product catalogue.
Import terms: MOQ, lead times, margins
| Item | Terms |
|---|---|
| Trial MOQ | 10 units |
| MOQ for OEM/ODM | 100 units |
| Samples | 7–10 days by air |
| Bulk orders | 25–40 days by sea |
| Delivery within Vietnam | 7–10 business days |
| Dealer margin | 20% from around 10 units, 30% from around 50 units |
The safest way into a market is a 10-unit order first: install for real across two or three of the site types you intend to sell into, let them sit through at least one spell of bad weather, and only then book a container. A trial order at the 10-unit MOQ already qualifies for the first discount tier, so the cost of testing is effectively the cost of the goods. Volume pricing and payment terms are set out on the wholesale page; territory protection and sales support for distributors are covered on the dealer page.
OEM and private label: what is actually on the table
OEM and private label apply across the whole catalogue, the 49 AOV models included — logo on the housing, packaging, manuals and app branding. The MOQ for OEM/ODM orders is 100 units. Anything beyond the standard configuration — higher resolution, a larger battery or panel, more storage — the factory will still build to specification, but price and lead time have to be confirmed by a named contact for that specific order, never inferred from the standard price list.
Checklist before you commit to a supplier
- Factory certification. Shenzhen Leksell was established in 2012 and is TÜV Rheinland certified, alongside CE, FCC and RoHS. Ask for scans of the certificates tied to the exact product line you are importing, not a general corporate certificate.
- Cross-check the specs three ways. The catalogue, the proforma invoice and the label on the housing all have to agree on battery capacity, panel wattage and ingress rating.
- 4G bands. Confirm the model supports the bands your market's carriers actually run before you order volume.
- Spare parts. Ask up front about the supply of replacement panels, mounts and cables — that is what determines your warranty cost in year two.
- Who answers technical questions. A serious supplier gives you a named contact; a weak one gives you a web form.
Next steps
Our Ho Chi Minh City office handles quotations, samples and domestic Vietnamese delivery in 7–10 business days. Send us your expected volume, the type of sites you are deploying to, and whether you need private labelling — you will get back a shortlist of part numbers with volume pricing, not a retail price list.
